In today’s world, we are bombarded with information from multiple sources. Some stories we choose for enjoyment, some are work-related and others we simply can’t avoid as we go about our day. So when you go home for the evening, it becomes difficult to find the time to read a book for pleasure.
While in a book store recently, just passing some time, I looked at a copy of ‘Unbroken’, by Laura Hillenbrand. I remembered reading her first book, ‘Seabiscuit’, and being completely absorbed in it. It didn’t take too long for me to decide to purchase this hardcover book after reviewing the book jacket and a few pages.
The level of detail in this book, about a World War II veteran, is unbelievable. Very often, reading historical stories is difficult with names and dates but Ms. Hillenbrand has the ability to tie everything together smoothly so that you feel as if you are along side of Mr. Louie Zamperini. The author was able to make the reader feel the same way about Seabiscuit and he was a racehorse!
If you are looking to read a book that makes you feel part of the story, consider ‘Unbroken’. I have to admit that I was not aware of Mr. Zamperini, but I think that everyone should be familiar with the story of Mr. Zamperini, an American hero.
